The state-of-the-art airport was designed with conservation of the area's many natural resources in mind. In fact, a large natural refuge, The West Bay Preservation area, is being completed at the same time as the airport. The terminal area is striving to be the nation's first to achieve the U.S. Green Building Council's prestigious LEED certification.
