| | New oceanfront W Fort Lauderdale | New W, Westin and Dining Event in Fort Lauderdale If you haven't taken a look at Greater Fort Lauderdale for meetings lately, you may not realize how many impressive new properties have been added to this vibrant South Florida destination. Dine Out Lauderdale is a very special dining opportunity planned to introduce visitors and attendees to the sumptuous assortment of restaurants found among 4,000 in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area.
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced that the Dine Out Lauderdale annual culinary event will take place Oct. 1 through Nov. 12 this year.
So far this year, the W Fort Lauderdale came sailing in, and the Westin Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale opened its doors. As of April 2009, Greater Fort Lauderdale is home to the largest W Hotel in the chain. Located oceanfront on Fort Lauderdale Beach, W Fort Lauderdale offers 517 guest rooms with names such as Wonderful, Fabulous and Spectacular. The sleek and distinctive architecture of the property features two curved towers that abstractly portray wind-filled sails. Symbolizing a turning tide, they're an interpretation of The W's contribution to Fort Lauderdale Beach's recent renaissance.
The sleek interior design incorporates the elements of earth, water, fire and air, combined with unobstructed ocean views. Indoor meeting space totals 12,400 square feet, all on one level. The largest meeting space is the 4,264-square-foot Great Room, where sails cascade from the ceiling and the walls are shimmering crushed marble. The flexible studio rooms inspire attendees with natural light and ocean views.
Celebrity chef Stephen Starr's Steak 954 features a semi-private dining area and is available for buyout. Whiskey Blue, the hotel's chic cocktail lounge, China Grill in the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina is on the Dine Out Lauderdale menu | is also available for group buyout.
The Westin Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale is the reincarnation of a former Fort Lauderdale icon, the Sheraton Yankee Trader. Emerging from a comprehensive renovation earlier this year, the resort incorporates a water theme – from the abstractly marine-inspired interior design to the meeting spaces. This AAA Four Diamond property has a 6,335-square-foot rooftop deck that can accommodate up to 550 people and boasts views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.
Three stories of indoor meeting space (totaling 32,000 square feet) includes 25 conference rooms, a 10,000-square-foot ballroom, outdoor terraces and a separate convention entrance and check-in facility in this state-of-the-art conference center. In addition, indoor dining events can be held at on-site restaurant Shula's Steakhouse or under the stars at the poolside café.
The Westin made its debut in February and is conveniently located just three miles from the Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center and two miles from the Greater Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
A contemporary lobby welcomes guests and foreshadows the rest of the resort's décor, from the ballrooms to the guest rooms. Attendees can choose from 433 guest rooms, many with water views.
Greater Fort Lauderdale offers groups a chance to sample a Lauderlicious selection of dining options and enjoy substantial savings at Dine Out Lauderdale. Attendees can participate in this "celebration of cuisine," presented by American Express. The area's top restaurants offer specially created three-course menus at an incredible $35 prix fixe.
